This is clerical and communications work at the full performance level.
The employee will make many decisions on matters pertaining to inquiries directed to the Township Police Department.
This employee performs duties for the Chief of Police and Administrative Lieutenant.
Work is confidential in nature and includes the operation of the police communication system and standard office equipment.
Assignments are routine and are carried in accordance with written or verbal instructions in established practices and procedures.
This job requires a rotating work schedule - including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts and the ability to work in a high-stress environment during emergencies.
Responsibilities will include:
Answer all telephone requests for police information and requests from the public following the standard procedures and guidelines of the police department and operate the police radio system.
Maintain all records pertaining to the police department and record, type and file all criminal special and daily reports.
Assist police officers when called upon to search prisoners when officers of the same sex are not available.
Receives and records complaints and routine complaints to proper authority for action Prepare reports for the Local, State and Federal agencies from information contained in the police files.
Operate CLEAN Terminal for police information and intelligence matters and all data processing for both input and output.
Perform duties when needed for the Chief of Police and/or Administration Lieutenant and perform other related duties as required.

In addition they must meet the following requirements:
Required to work rotating work schedule - including weekends, holidays and over-night shifts Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel High School diploma or equivalent.
Call center or emergency service related experience.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills.
Keep accurate records and prepare necessary reports Pass required criminal background check screening Strong typing skills.
